Internationally recognised teaching strategies

Our units use strategies from the High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS). These are a bank of 10 instructional practices that are internationally recognised as some of the most reliable teaching strategies for delivering learning outcomes. These strategies have emerged from the findings of tens of thousands of studies on what has worked in classrooms across Australia and the world.

Cognitive load theory

Our units include strategies based on cognitive load theory. Cognitive load theory indicates that when teaching students new content and skills, teachers are more effective when they provide explicit guidance accompanied by practice and feedback, then when they require students to discover for themselves many aspects of what they must learn.
